This was the first good (I mean active and relatively long-lived) lightning storm that I saw in New Mexico during the 2003 monsoon season. I photographed this storm together with John Battles, a college friend of mine at New Mexico Tech. Mr. Murphy picked him this time - and not me - I shot a roll of film while his camera battery drained after about the second exposure. That was embarrassing, since he had alerted me of this storm and we went with his car. The storm with the stars above the top (anvil) was very photogenic. Photography location was the Quebradas canyon east of the Rio Grande, New Mexico.
