Another wild monsoon night in New Mexico! The storms started in the afternoon while I was working on my research project. There was terriffic purple lightning shooting past a bright double rainbow, but as much as I tried, I did not get any of those on film (just the rainbow). When the sun set, the fallstreaks of rain started to color red - and I went south to the Bosque del Apache. On my way there I saw most beautiful CG lightning in that red virga - but it was mostly gone when I finally arrived at a spot where I could photograph. I got three good photos. Then I photographed lightning at a storm far south of me and went back to Socorro around local midnight. Not long after I got there, a big storm formed right over Socorro itself. I had no choice but to shoot lightning over the citylights of Socorro, which actually turned out to be a nice foreground.
