The Grand Canyon is probably the most well-known canyon in the world. Situated in the north of Arizona, USA, it has been carved out of the rockbed for millions of years by the Colorado River. The canyon is about 15 to 20 km wide and about 450 km long, and in some areas almost 2 km deep.
