Water ice can have many shapes and forms. Water ice has a hexagonal crystal structure, which is usually obvious by inspection. A good way to grow nice ice structures is by having a large reservoir of water in a refridgerator (not freezer) which is barely below freezing. The more slowly bulk ice grows, the more symmetry it will have.
