An aircraft flew through this altocumulus deck, creating immediate freezing of the supercooled waterdroplets in the area. Ice fallout followed, creating a virga and a large hole in the altocumulus. Such a hole is a rather uncommon sight, especially when so clearly defined as here. Taken at Wijdenes, The Netherlands, in July, 1999.
