Lightning flashes are occurring in the anvil and the slanted updraft tower of a supercell in the Texas Panhandle on May 31. The left side of the updraft appears blurred due to the movement of the cloud during the time exposure; this part of the cloud is mostly scattering the twilight. The right side of the updraft appears well outlined because it was illuminated briefly by the lightning.
