The transmission of the red light from a setting sun through precipitation can be really stunning. Also, away from the sun, a red rain curtain with maybe a red rainbow can be very beautiful. The precipitation mainly scatters the red sunlight, and so it can spread the colors out over a larger area - "setting the sky on fire".
